Tummy Tuck: A Popular Mommy Makeover Procedure

A tummy tuck for your new body!

I have two young children, so I understand the difficulty many women have when it comes to losing weight after pregnancy. It takes a lot of work to bounce back to the pre-pregnancy stomach you once had. Tummy tuck surgery (“abdominoplasty”), is a procedure done to remove excess skin and fatty tissue from the tummy, and repair damaged abdominal muscles. The end result is a firmer, smooth abdomen.

It is a popular, body contour procedure for women seeking a “Mommy Makeover!”

Childbearing, aging, genetics, and rapid or excessive weight loss can cause unwanted abdominal skin, and fatty tissue. With childbearing or excessive weight changes the abdominal muscles can also become damaged and separate, a condition known as “diastasis.” These unwanted features will not resolve with exercise alone, and usually need to be surgically corrected. This procedure is not meant to take the place of diet and exercise in individuals who simply wish to lose weight.

During the abdominoplasty procedure, the surgeon will repair the separated or weakened abdominal muscles. Liposuction is also sometimes used to assist in body contouring.

This procedure is considered cosmetic in nature and is generally not covered by medical insurance. The cost of abdominoplasty ranges significantly from $4,000 to $20,000 dollars, although it depends on a variety of factors.

However, until you decide that plastic surgery is worth your dime, Tummy Tuck Jeans could be an effective fashion style to incorporate into your overall Mommy Makeover!

  1. I can totally relate to this. I only have 1 child and it has taken me some time to get back to pre baby shape. The one thing they don’t tell you is how pregnancy changes your skin on your tummy. After stretching so much, it just never feels the same again!

  2. I just had my 2nd, I have 7 pounds to loose to be at my pre baby weight however my midsection is a complete mess. I have been thinking about getting a tummy tuck or mommy makeover, but I want to wait until I see what some healthy eating and exercise will do. I feel that surgery should be a last resort .

  3. I don’t have any children (yet), but I can only imagine the desire to maintain a youthful, and flattering look as a mom. I have experience with tummy tuck jeans — they are one of my favorite pairs of jeans! I tell my clients about them all the time. ;)

  4. My last child was born seven years ago, and I would still consider undergoing a Mommy Makeover if finances were not an issue. However, I agree that surgery should be a last resort. So instead, I’m trying to get more active. My goal is to lose 30 lbs. over the course of this year (thankfully, it’s still early!).

  5. After having kids, it’s really hard to have my fit body back. This surgery would a great help. Thanks for this article.

  6. I totally agree on the “last resort” thing for surgery. But for someone who is harshly(to me anyway)overweight, it might be an option after losing a good 30 lbs.
